Southern Gothic comic mystery, a Cain and Abel story set in a Texas dive bar in the middle of the Iraq war. Billy goes to war, while step-brother Franklin stays home and inherits the family owned bar. On leave for their Mama Sue's funeral, Billy finds his meth-addicted wife dead at the bottom of the stairs, or so he says. Will his brother Franklin back up his alibi? When the dead wife's Mama Jean come for revenge, will justice be served at Jerry's Place?

Monica Bauer, playwright. Plays produced Off Broadway, Off-Off Broadway, regionally, and internationally in London, at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, and the Brighton (England) Fringe Festival (finalist, New South Writing Prize, for “The Maternal Instinct”, also third place in New Works for Young Women). Alumna of Boston University graduate program in playwriting. Award winning plays include “My Occasion of Sin,” Urban Stages in 2012 (Winner, Emerging Playwright Award), 2014 season of Detroit Repertory Theater. “Made for Each Other” : Edinburgh Fringe, United Solo Festival. “Chosen Child,” Boston Playwrights’ Theatre, nominated for an IRNE (Independent Reviewers of New England) award 2014 for Best New Play; winner, Bechdel Test Festival, Bridge Initiative for Women in Theater (2017). Short play “No Irish Need Apply” winner, Tiny Plays for Ireland and America, produced at the Kennedy Center by Fishamble Theater of Dublin (2016). “Anne Frank in the Gaza Strip,” Planet Connections Theater Festivity 2017, Best New Comedy. Two shows in the 2018 Edinburgh Fringe Festival, “Brand New Jew, a DNA Comedy”, and “Vivian’s Music, 1969.” Coming October 2018, Tucson’s Roadrunner Theater, “The Real Machiavelli,” first produced at 13th Street Rep. John FitzGibbon (Director) Actor, director, composer, pianist. Off-off Broadway: directed Monica Bauer’s BALLS! THE TESTOSTERONE PLAYS at The Workshop Theater; Bauer’s play for one actor, MADE FOR EACH OTHER starring John Fico which garnered rave reviews at the Edinburgh Festivals in 2012, 2013, United Solo, Orlando and Boulder Fringe Festivals; nominated for Best Solo Show at the Planet Connections Theatre Festivity. He directed plays for Robin Rice Lichtig (Theatre Brut Festivals, NJ Rep and Sam French Festival); Jean Erdman (Theatre of the Open Eye); HPAC in Hawaii and Hawaii Upward Bound. He received a Fulbright Scholarship to the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. As an actor, he received a Best of Boston Award for MOON FOR THE MISBEGOTTEN (Jim Tyrone); a Carbonell Nomination for SIGHT UNSEEN (Nick); and an OBIE nomination for CAT AND THE MOON (lame beggar). He is an accomplished pianist/composer: selections from his CD Reflections were used as the soundtracks for the Caldwell Theatre Production of Next Fall and can be sampled at CDBaby.com.
