Joanna is at her lowest point while at a friend’s anniversary party because her longtime boyfriend is slipping away when in walks Mark. As she and Mark get to know each other, they express their hopes and dreams, debate their beliefs, argue over a misunderstanding, make up, and reveal themselves as they gradually become closer. Joanna recovers from her despondency and her mood finally improves, but she still loves her boyfriend even though their relationship is seemingly coming to an end, and events will take her to an unexpected crossroads.

Robert Kirkendall.

Robert Kirkendall is from San Jose, CA, presently lives in Santa Cruz, and has worked a number of jobs over the years to support his writing habit. He directed several of his short plays at Community Television of Santa Cruz as live broadcasts, and was a member of the Briefly Scene playwriting workshop. His full length workplace drama Dermalogic was presented online as a live staged reading by Theater for the New City’s On the Air series, the opening scene of Electric Serenade was performed online for Rachel Love’s Airplay ‘22, and last April his one act comedy Funhouse was staged by Manhattan Repertory Theatre. Recently his 10 minute comedy You Want It When? was part of an evening of staged readings by Julia Genoveva Productions at the 353 Studios. He also cowrote the screenplay for Twenty which is currently being directed by Hilary Davidson for Nineteen85 Films, and his original screenplay Leaving Paradise, the story of a man trying to escape Santa Cruz, has been gaining recognition by various film festivals on the Film Freeway. Laurence C. Schwartz.

Laurence C. Schwartz (Director) Last season Schwartz directed the critically acclaimed Case Closed: The Dorian Corey Story at The Gene Frankel Theatre. He made his directorial debut staging his one-act play, A First Family, an Adult Fairy Tale for Love Creek Productions on Theatre Row. He has directed over 30 plays for such companies as The Riant Theatre’s Strawberry One-Act Festival, American Theatre of Actors, The Strawberry Play Festival, The Secret Theatre, Emerging Artists, and Manhattan Rep. He wrote and starred in Artaud for Awhile, portraying French Poet Antonin Artaud at Wings Theatre in Greenwich Village. Schwartz began his theatre quest as an actor, and two recent favorite roles were both as law-enforcement officials. He played Gabriel Nicolas de la Reynie, Louis XIV’s chief-of-police in The Poisons at The New York Fringe Festival, and small-town southern Sheriff Calloway in Leaving Lannahassee at American Theatre of Actors. He directed A Christmas Family Reunion at The Davenport Theatre and Thank You for Taking My Call at The Players Theatre. Schwartz has lectured on theatre, gender studies, film, psychedelic rock, opera, literature, and many other subjects at twenty different colleges on the university circuit to students from all over the world, from teens to retirees. He writes about these experiences in, “Teaching on Borrowed Time, an Adjunct’s Memoir” (Page Publishing), which will be available on-line in fall 21 at Amazon, Google Play Books, iTunes, and Barnes & Noble.
